In software development, technical debt is a concept that reflects the extra development work that arises when we use quick or easy solutions, but the concept is useful beyond the world of software too. In just about any team we’ve worked with, technical debt is a challenge. It can arise when we take shortcuts and rush things, but more commonly technical debt comes in when our teams simply don’t have the information or skills they need yet. In the digital world, where new technologies and ideas are emerging just about every day, technical debt is almost unavoidable.
So how do we deal with technical debt, if we can be sure it will arise from time to time? Our coaches Alessa Leuschen and Roberto Bettazzoni are joining forces for our October webinar to discuss this concept in depth. They’ll outline what technical debt is, and how to recognise it inside and outside a digital service context. They’ll spend some time working through examples, talk about the different types of technical debt, go through what causes it, and outline some of the most effective ways to deal with it.
Make sure you bring your questions, because we’ll be setting aside some time to answer them at the end of the session.
